Mirroring Supplies :: Sensitizing Solutions
Sensitizing agents form an invisible layer that chemically bonds the metal in the mirroring solution to the glass. The primary sensitizing agent is tin - dissolved stannous chloride. Having the right strength of stannous chloride is important. Use Tin for Gold to sensitize the glass for Gold, Copper and Galena mirrors and Tin for Silver for Silver mirrors. Copper and Galena mirrors need to be sensitized with Tin for Gold and super-sensitized with Palladium Sensitizer.
Diluted sensitizing solutions have a shelf life of one day, so we offer our solutions in concentrated form. The concentrated solutions have a shelf life of about one year. For details on mixing, shelf life and coverage, click on the individual products below.
